Terms and Conditions

Last updated May 6, 2026 · Effective immediately upon publication

Welcome to Color Palette Guide. These terms govern your use of the website at colorpaletteguide.com ("the site"), operated by Lucas Hue. By visiting, reading, commenting, subscribing, or otherwise using the site, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.

This document is written in plain English. We've kept the legal padding to a minimum so you can actually read it.

1. Acceptance of terms

By accessing Color Palette Guide, you confirm that you are at least 13 years old (or have the supervision of a parent or guardian) and that you understand and accept these terms. If you're using the site on behalf of a business or organization, you confirm you have authority to bind that entity to these terms.

2. Permitted use of the site

You're welcome to read, share, and apply the content on this site for personal, non-commercial purposes. Specifically:

  • Read every post, screenshot a hex code, write down a palette, and use it in your own home, brand, or wedding.
  • Share posts on social media using our Pinterest pins, social previews, and excerpt text.
  • Quote up to 100 words from any post in your own writing, with a credit and link back to the original.
  • Apply our frameworks (HUE, RUSH, APE, HALF, 60-30-10) freely to your own projects — that's what they're for.

3. Intellectual property — palettes, frameworks, photography

This is the section most readers care about. Here's how content ownership works on Color Palette Guide.

What's ours and protected

  • Original written content of every post.
  • Original photography, mood boards, and palette graphics.
  • Framework names we've coined — including but not limited to HUE Method, RUSH Framework, APE System, HALF Method, 60-30-10 Autumn Rule, and 2-3-1 Wedding Method.
  • The Color Palette Guide name, logo, and visual brand identity.

What's yours to use freely

  • Hex codes themselves. A six-digit color code is not copyrightable. Use any hex code from this site without restriction.
  • Color theory principles. Complementary pairings, the color wheel, undertone analysis — these are educational concepts that belong to everyone.
  • The frameworks as practical tools. Apply HUE, RUSH, APE, etc. on your projects. Just don't republish them as your own original work or create competing courses/books using the same names without permission.

What's not allowed

  • Republishing full posts on another website, in a newsletter, or in a book without written permission.
  • Scraping the site to train AI models or feed content into competing publications.
  • Removing watermarks, attribution, or credits from our images or graphics.
  • Using our framework names to brand a competing product (e.g., a course called "The HUE Method").
  • Translating full posts into another language and republishing without permission.

For permission to republish, syndicate, or translate content, email editorial@colorpaletteguide.com. We say yes more often than you'd expect, especially for non-profit or educational use.

4. User-submitted content (comments & emails)

When you leave a comment, send an email, or submit content through the contact form, you grant Color Palette Guide a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to display that content on the site, reference it in future posts (anonymized if you'd prefer), and use it for editorial purposes.

You retain ownership of your own words. We're not buying your content — we're just confirming we have permission to display it.

You agree that any content you submit:

  • Is your own original work or you have the right to share it.
  • Doesn't infringe anyone else's copyright, trademark, or privacy rights.
  • Isn't defamatory, harassing, or unlawful.
  • Doesn't contain spam, malware, or links to scam sites.

5. Prohibited conduct

Don't do any of the following while using the site:

  • Hack, probe, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the site or its hosting infrastructure.
  • Use automated scrapers, bots, or AI crawlers to harvest content (this includes — explicitly — training data extraction).
  • Post spam, hate speech, threats, or harassing content in comments or via the contact form.
  • Impersonate Lucas Hue or any other commenter.
  • Use the site to distribute malware, phishing links, or fraudulent affiliate redirects.
  • Reverse-engineer or attempt to extract source code beyond what your browser displays normally.

Violations result in immediate IP-level blocks and, where damages have occurred, legal action.

6. Disclaimer of warranties

The site is provided "as is" and "as available." We make our best effort to keep it accurate, online, and useful, but we make no warranty that:

  • The content is error-free or current at every moment.
  • Hex codes will display identically on your device (see our disclaimer on color accuracy).
  • The site will be available 100% of the time without downtime.
  • Following our advice will produce a specific outcome — color is subjective and project-dependent.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Color Palette Guide and Lucas Hue are not liable for:

  • Indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the site.
  • Outcomes of design or paint decisions you make based on our content.
  • Costs of paint, materials, or printed goods purchased based on hex codes or color recommendations on this site.
  • Errors or omissions in third-party content, including affiliate-linked products.

If you make a major commitment based on something you read here — repainting a whole house, launching a brand, printing 500 wedding invitations — order samples, test in your own conditions, and consult a paid professional if the stakes warrant it.

8. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Color Palette Guide, Lucas Hue, and any affiliated parties from claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your violation of these terms or your misuse of the site.

9. Third-party links & services

The site links to external resources — paint manufacturer pages, design tools, peer-reviewed studies, Pinterest boards, and affiliate products. We don't control those external destinations. A link from us is not an endorsement of every page on the linked site, and we're not responsible for their content, terms, or privacy practices.

10. Termination of access

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access to the site for any user who violates these terms, abuses the comment system, or engages in conduct that harms the community or the site's operations. Termination doesn't relieve you of obligations incurred before termination.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which Color Palette Guide is registered, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction unless both parties agree to alternative dispute resolution.

If you're a consumer in the European Union, the United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction with mandatory consumer protection laws, those laws apply where they grant you stronger rights than the terms above.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms periodically as the site grows or laws change. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be announced via a banner on the site for at least 14 days. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.

13. Contact

Questions about these terms, content licensing, or legal matters:

One last note. We'd rather solve a problem with a friendly email than a legal letter. If you have an issue with anything on the site, reach out first — we read every email and we're reasonable people.
